I know this is gonna be a shocker, but I kept having problems with BF2142 and thought I'd share what I learned:

1) First server join seemed to always result in "connection lost" or some equally mysterious message.
I upgraded from 1GB of RAM to 2.5GB of RAM, and haven't had this happen again.  System specs of other people complaining about this problem versus people saying it works fine seems to point to this too...

2) Kept getting disconnected with "lost connection to EA Master Server" and required to sign in again.
Search in your BF2142 folder for a file called radial.cdb and rename it.  It will get rebuilt when you next fire up BF2142.

These are not the views of my employer. These are not the views you're looking for.

Thanks, Weasel.
My connection loss in BF2142 is solely due to Charter sucking ass in St. Louis.
